The Sounding by Josh Armstrong
Ethereal beauty
The Herald ****
Josh is a performance artist whose work spans a wide range of disciplines from theatrical design to intimate installations, collaboratively devised performances to direction of music-theatre works.
Josh has an interest in creating performative experiences. Whether it is as intimate as a small room or as vast as cliff on the ocean, Josh specialises in making an event unique and meaningful, often letting the performance occur within the memories, imagination, and hearts of the observers/participants. Josh believes that details are what make an experience special and memorable, and enjoys making sure even the smallest element adds to the experience as a whole. Josh also has a very keen interest in making fully sensual experiences, involving every sense, as smell and taste can be more transporting and evocative than sight and sound.
Josh studied contemporary and experimental theatre at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Josh was Cryptic’s inaugural associate artist and has been supported by Creative Scotland and the Federation of Scottish Theatre.
