The shortlist is out and Final Fling makes Good Funeral Award nominations 2014… for the third year running.

The winners will be announced on 6 September at the funeral industry ‘Oscars’ as part of the Ideal Death Show.

“I’m delighted that Final Fling has made the shortlist for the Good Funeral Awards 2014 for its Major Contribution to the Understanding of Death,” said Barbara Chalmers, Founder.

“We’re up against strong competition for nomination this year again – and it changes every year, with more and more people joining in and tackling the taboo.”

See reasons why Final Fling made the shortlist for Good Funeral Award nominations 2014.

This year’s runners in the category are Jon Underwood who started the Death Cafe movement in the UK and Chantal Lockey who works to improve understanding and increase skills in coping with infant death.

Last year, women pretty much swept the boards at the Good Funeral Awards, showing a changing trend back towards the old tradition of women being the leaders in the community from birth to death, winning in the categories of Best Funeral Director, Best Celebrant, Most Outstanding Contribution and more.

Final Fling won the award in 2012, the year of its launch and was nominated again in 2013.

The awards celebrate the changes in the industry and the work of individuals and organisations setting the standards.

The Ideal Death Show is organised by Brian Jenner with Charles Cowling of the Good Funeral Guide and offer a weekend of workshops and events for professionals and the public.
