Beyond Goodbye – dealing with bereavement

Jane Harris and Jimmy Edmonds lost their son Josh in a road accident while he was on his travels Vietnam in early 2011. He was only 22.

To help them work with their loss, to help others facing bereavement and to keep Josh alive in their lives, they set up the website Beyond Goodbye. It’s been a space for friends and family to connect in their grief, celebrate Josh’s life and remember.

“Like many young people of his age Josh had saved up and taken off on a journey that represented a new and exciting part of his life. So many countries to visit, so many people to meet. That dream now gone.

“Hearing about his death, his friend Victoria set up Postcards for Josh, inviting all his friends to keep him in the loop for every journey they made. We’ve passed the 100 postcards mark already.

Beyond Goodbye as a ‘project’ has spawned many things – book, film, website, support tools, talks and presentations. Find out more here.
